If I were Teresa May's Life Coach...
I feel for Teresa May, she has been landed in a pretty poor position.
If I were her life coach I would be telling her to hold her head up, she won more seats even though Corbyn's party promised amazing things with money they were going to take from the tax payers of Britain.
Of course, reading into that they must believe that under the Tories, many people have become very rich and they are able to pay loads of tax. This huge amount of tax would afford huge benefit to the many poor British people under labour, and there would be plenty more policemen too.
Life coaches believe in the amazing ability of their clients and I do believe Teresa can still get us out of Europe and is still the best person to do it. The first thing she must do is focus fully on her job and let the negativity thrown at her at this time wash off. The Tories actually have more seats than they did when Cameron had to form that ill fated coalition with the Liberal Democrats. Looking at the last few election results, it seems unlikely to me that any party in future will get a large majority, gone are the days when people voted for the party their fathers told them too. Although, nowadays it seems the student population vote for the party their education establishment prefers even though Labour stopped the free degrees in the first place. Scotland kept the free degrees but then Gordon Brown and Tony Blair were both born there so no wonder.
Teresa May has had a blow to her confidence, but she will need to lift her head up and get on with the job. Reminding her of how far she has come will help and also reminding her that millions of people still voted for her is key. She should remember, that in spite of welfare cuts, the main reason Corbyn polled so may votes, she still had millions of votes and they are the people she is working for.
She still got a lot more seats than labour and she should remember that another reason she did that is because many Labour voters had voted UKIP in the last election to make a statement that they wanted a referendum to leave Europe. That is done and now we are leaving Europe, Labour voters felt safe to vote for Corbyn, after all he had promised he would respect the fact the majority called for a Brexit.
More evidence that the country still wants a Brexit comes from Scotland, where SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon lost many seats. She made a lot of noise about more Scottish voters wanting to remain in Europe and it seems they did and that they didn't want a change. However many have voter Tory in this election which would suggest they aren't so keen on Ms Sturgeons ideas after all. Teresa May should hold her head up and keep going for the many Scottish voters who supported her this time too.
Teresa needs to hold her head up and carry the torch for the millions of voters who voted for a Brexit and for her this time, it's time to get over this hiccup. The DUP have said they will help, and there are noises about the borders being an issue, but the Irish border was already likely to remain soft even if other British borders are hardened.
I heard a female Labour MP trying to say people voted for Corbyn because they wanted to soft Brexit. Did she not hear all his promises about free education for students? Did she not know that the Tory policy on stopping free school meals was unpopular? Does she not realise that people can think beyond one issue and vote for other reasons? To me that is Labour's problem, they still believe the voting public are thick and will believe anything they say. They still believe people have a short memory. Well, people haven't forgotten Tony Blair's damage to Iraq and so many other middle Eastern states, now have they?
Teresa should remember that people still voted for her despite Welfare cuts and the threat of taking away free school meals, because they believe in the bigger picture.
